agenda in connection with Mr. Sloss' presence
in Hong Kong. He said that if we were sending
out anyone to Hong Kong obviously it would be
with a member of the Delegation and in that way,
the proposal that he could visit them would come
off. The C.0. he said were tied down on this
matter.
Mr. Sloss agred that he could do much
more here in this country at the present time.
The chairman considered that item of the
agenda completed.
Mr. Sloss thought a reply might be sent to
the cable that it was desired to see the University
re-started. (something was said here about politically
and establishing the University if the Far East could
offer finance).
Miscellaneous matters
The Chairman said he would like to reverse B and A
and get B out of the way. He said he had no dount whatever
that we were pretty well committed to a University in
Malaya and the Committee must proceed with the subsequent discussion in the light of that decision.
Mr. Çox asked if the S. of S. had made an open
declaration as such a declaration was being pressed for.
The Chairman said the S. of S. very much wished to make
an announcement and that it would be made next(month

The Chairman stated he had received a letter
from Professor Channon from which the Chairman quoted
passages concerning the University at Singapore.
